The Weather
As you would expect North Cyprus enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with long, warm and dry summers from mid-May to mid-October with mild and wet winters from December to February. There is a short autumn and spring period which completes the 4 seasons of the year.
Summer Temperatures in Northern Cyprus brings a season of hot weather, high temperatures and cloudless skies. Along the coast the sea breeze helps make a more pleasant atmosphere. The July and August temperatures (the hottest months) reaches 34 °C and even to 40 °C though this year July recorded days of 44 C. In the interior the temperature during the coldest months can be between 7 and 15 degrees. The coastal areas boast higher temperatures while the Girne (Kyrenia) Mountain range gets more rainfall and the temperatures are lower.
Winters are mild with some rain and only occasional quick-melting falls of snow on the Girne (Kyrenia) Mountain range (over the last few years we have seen snow only once in each year). North Cyprus enjoys high sunshine duration in all coastal areas, even January you can expect upto six hours of bright sunshine during the day.
Girne (Kyrenia) town is a sunny destination with very little rainfall all year round.
